Bermuda is an island nation unto itself, east of the North American coast and north of the islands of the Caribbean Sea.The first settlement ocurred in 1609 with the shipwreck of the English vessel ┬áSea Venture, on its way to provide supplies to the Jamestown Colony in Virginia. Anglican services were held on the island, in the vicinity of present day St. George, where St. Peter’s Church stands as the oldest Anglican congregation in continuous use outside of Great Britain.
